For all of you, beginning, or long time stargazers, who come to Om Home Astrology Lab and Astrology Discussion Group Meetings, on Saturdays here is a “Heads Up” on the Sky Action for February 2012.

January 30 – February 7

2nd Quarter: Friction from Mars Balanced by Good Luck from Jupiter

Mars (aggression, impulse, force) is in hard aspect to both Mercury (communication) and Venus (relationship needs) (on the 1st. Extra care needs to be exercised in communication and in negotiations. There is a tendency to get angry at the slightest provocation, real or imagined, and to rush agreements. With Mars retrograde, it is likely best to defer such matters to an easier time.

With a lucky energy from the Jupiter (expansion, joy, abundance, blessings) in Taurus trine to Pluto (transformation) in Capricorn all month, we are likely to feel strong, powerful, and more confident than in the past. We have bright, practical ideas about money and how to further our worldly ambitions. Yet even though we feel confident about the wisdom of our financial strategies, it may be difficult to make new beginnings until after Mars (efficient use of energy) goes direct in April. Take this time to put financial plans in order so that when April 13 arrives you are organized and thoroughly prepared to move forward.

Venus (all things sweet and lovely) conjoins Uranus (surprise) (from the 2nd to the 15th, exact on the 9th), expect a lot of excitement in your relationships! This part of the month will definitely not be humdrum socially; these are good days to so out and meet new people and enjoy life.

February 7 – February 14

3rd Quarter: Zero In On Work Projects and Work On Fairness In Relationships

Saturn (the task master) turns stationary retrograde on the 7th at 29° Libra. Burdens and responsibilities tend to increase around the time of these stations. Get an early start on all work projects. Delays and frustrations are likely. Double-check all numbers. Saturn demands that we persevere. It may not be fun, but not to follow this route will tend to lead one astray. The rewards of following a positive Saturn path may not be spectacular, but they are satisfying. Mars opposes Vesta (my sacred space) on the 7th. Eleanor Bach frequently described this combination as the need to defend one’s turf or to fight over a vested interest.

Also, the Saturn retrograde in Libra is a good time to reevaluate our connections with others. One can gain a deeper understanding about how to make the relationship work more smoothly, as Saturn in Libra teaches us all how to have relationships that are fair to both parties, where both points of view are understood.

The Sun trines Saturn from the 10th to the 23rd, exact on the 18th. These are days of social harmony, as you will be able to see the big picture in your relationships and can have a better sense of what other people want, so you can make resolutions and compromises that will work for the both of you and can create a level of harmony.

Mercury trines Saturn from the 10th to the 16th, exact on the 13th. This is a great time for writing and communicating. New ideas can occur to you about ways to interact with others that give you more freedom.

February 14 – February 21

4th Quarter: Pallas Moves Into Pisces

Mercury conjoins Neptune and Pallas Athena at 0° Pisces on the 14th. This grouping can have several manifestations. It can bring out creativity and genius. Pallas is wisdom and Neptune can be creative imagination. Pallas also rules the immune system. In combination with Neptune, it can weaken bodily defenses. This can be the result of an infection, chemotherapy, or drug use. There may be news about the need to protect the water supply.

February 21 – February 29

1st Quarter: A Harsh Vibration

Mars is contra parallel Saturn on the 22nd. This combination has dire interpretations, ranging from cruelty to death, because Saturn symbolizes the ego (the controlled, disciplined part of the self that sets the alarm clock in the evening and gets us to appointments on time the next day). There are times, through, when it is proper for the ego to step aside, such as when we laugh, love, or sleep. The ego interprets this “stepping aside” or relaxation of control as a “little death” and can refuse to let go. When it feels the heat of Mars rising, it can try to restrict the Martian energy. This leads to the well-known Mars-Saturn frustration. Taken to an extreme, it can lead to the application of Martian aggression untempered by feeling or compassion. In contrast, applying the ego in the right measure provides discipline and guidance without the need to control. Let us choose the constructive path.

At our 2012 February’s Astrology Discussion Group (scheduled on the second Saturday of the month), we will look how Mark Robertson describes the Powers of the 8th house. He divides these into three sections—soul, sex, and money. We may only get through one. As usual, we will discuss the current transits, apply them to current events and analyze a Mystery Chart or two. Last time, it was Romney, and Tebow. Did you know Mitt Romney is a Pisces? That kind of fits with his Health Care Plan adopted by Obama, and Tim Tebow has a stellium with Sun, Mars, Venus and Mercury all conjunct in Leo and in a grand trine to Jupiter and Moon in Aries and trine to Saturn and Uranus in Sagittarius? He’s definitely the fiery athlete.

At our 2012 February’s Astrology Lab (now scheduled on the third Saturday of the month), we will take the Test of the Strength of our Moon. We all passed as having very strong Suns last time.
